His career is built upon a personal, rigorous, and deeply rooted perspective in Catalan culture, where composition serves as a tool for artistic expression and sonic reflection.
His work is inscribed within the contemporary musical landscape with a unique, recognizable, and coherent voice, valuing both melodic sensibility and formal experimentation. Cornudella does not merely compose music; he constructs sonic narratives that connect with both performer and listener through clear and direct authenticity.
As a Catalan author, Jordi Cornudella develops a body of work that reflects a strong cultural grounding, yet without falling into closed or repetitive formulas. His music stems from a respect for European and Catalan musical tradition, but incorporates contemporary resources that allow him to explore new textures, structures, and sonic discourses.
This balance between past and present is one of the distinctive features of his output. Each composition is the result of a profound creative process, where musical form serves the artistic idea. This ensures his work is performed in both academic contexts and cultural dissemination spaces more open to the general public.
Furthermore, Cornudella understands music as a space for collaboration. Dialogue with performers, ensembles, and cultural institutions forms an essential part of his creative process, enriching each project with new perspectives and interpretive readings.
Jordi Cornudella’s work is characterized by a clear communicative intent. Far from gratuitous abstraction, his compositions aim to generate a significant sonic experience, capable of evoking emotion, reflection, and intellectual interest.
As a Catalan author, he pays special attention to timbral detail, the relationship between silence and sound, and the internal structure of pieces. These elements allow him to create balanced works that are, at the same time, open to interpretation, where each performance can reveal new nuances.
His output includes pieces for various instrumental formations, with a notable presence of chamber music as a privileged space for experimentation and musical dialogue. This format allows him to explore the intimacy between performers and the expressive richness of small ensembles.
Within his catalog, chamber music holds a central place. It is in this realm that Cornudella most freely develops his sonic and formal research, working with diverse instrumental combinations and flexible structures.
